Mobile-ID is simple, convenient, and handy
Thanks to the Mobile-ID service, you can handle all your matters on your smart device. Mobile-ID is your digital ID card, which is located on your smart device and is always with you.
You no longer need a separate card reader: you can log in to e-services from any computer with an internet connection, and it doesn't matter which browser you use. Your mobile phone acts as both an ID card and a card reader at the same time.
Your mobile phone is usually always at hand. The biggest advantage of Mobile-ID is that you don't need a separate card reader. This way, you can log in to your online bank directly from your phone, without even needing a computer – even more convenient!
Mobile-ID is secure because
it is nationally recognized
the document issuer uses the same requirements for identity verification as for issuing an ID card
it is issued under the Identity Documents Act and also complies with the Digital Signature Act
its use is protected by PIN codes
your mobile phone and e-service exchange data via an encrypted connection

When concluding the contract
at a service point
both the contract owner and the minor must be present. Both must have a valid document with them.
When concluding the contract
in self-service
an SMS is sent to the minor after signing the contract, asking them to log in to self-service with an ID card and confirm the Mobile-ID order. Authorization for the minor to confirm the Mobile-ID order in self-service is not required. The contract is activated after confirmation.
Concluding a Mobile-ID contract for a user aged 18- ...
A Mobile-ID user aged 18- ... signs the contract themselves. When concluding the contract in self-service or at a service point, the contract owner must assign full authorization to the user's number in self-service. Information on how to assign authorization can be found
HERE
.
To conclude the contract, you need a valid:
ID card (in self-service or at a service point)
Estonian passport (only at a service point). A contract cannot be concluded with a foreign passport.
Digi ID together with Estonian citizen's passport (only at a service point).
Residence permit (only at a service point)
NB! In self-service, the contract can only be concluded with a valid ID card. The contract can be signed with an existing Mobile-ID or ID card. When signing with an ID card, you need an ID card reader and to know your ID card passwords.
To use the Mobile-ID service, you need a Mobile-ID compatible SIM card.
The SIM card must be replaced if:
you are using a SIM card that does not support Mobile-ID;
the same SIM card has previously had Mobile-ID.
The suitability of the SIM card is checked automatically during Mobile-ID joining, and if the SIM card needs to be replaced, you will be conveniently directed to order a new SIM card. SIM replacement in self-service involves a one-time fee of €4.43 (at a service point €8.86).
NB! The Mobile-ID service can be used with a physical SIM. eSIM does not support the Mobile-ID service.
One person can have several Mobile-ID contracts, one for each mobile number.
Mobile-ID certificates are activated automatically after joining and are valid for up to 5 years.
Elisa will send you a message before the certificates expire.
To renew certificates, the old Mobile-ID contract must be terminated and a new contract concluded in self-service or at a service point.
The SIM card must also be replaced, as only one Mobile-ID contract can be on one SIM card. SIM replacement in self-service involves a one-time fee of €4.43 (at a service point €8.86).
The number user can terminate their Mobile-ID service in self-service under "Services and Devices". Select the mobile number for which the Mobile-ID contract has been concluded, go to the "Additional services" section, and click the "Terminate service" button.
The contract owner or fully authorized person can terminate the number user's Mobile-ID service based on a digitally signed application, by sending the application to the email address kirjad@elisa.ee. The application should specify which mobile number the Mobile-ID service should be terminated for. Suitable for signing: ID card, Mobile-ID, or Smart-ID.
Try restarting your device
If possible, also try removing the SIM card from the device for a minute or two.
If you are a Dual SIM device user
If you have a Mobile-ID contract only on one SIM card (mobile number), make sure that another SIM card without a Mobile-ID contract is not currently active, and ensure that the SIM card is in slot number 1.
Check if you have call forwarding activated
Mobile-ID messages are SIM card-based and do not forward to another mobile number like regular messages. To use Mobile-ID, call forwarding must be disabled.
If you are abroad
When abroad, messages may move a bit slower. If you have moved between countries and cannot get a proper network connection, restart your device.
Try your SIM card in another device
This way, you can rule out that the issue is not related to a specific device.
You can change Mobile-ID PIN and PUK codes from your device. For this, you need to know the currently valid code.
On Samsung devices, under the "Applications/Tools" menu.
On Apple iPhone devices: Settings > Mobile Data > SIM applications > Mobile-ID.
To change PIN codes, find the Mobile-ID application and select "Change codes".
Example from Samsung device menu.
Example from iPhone menu.
If the PIN code is blocked, you can unblock it using the PUK code, which you can find on the SIM card packaging.
If the PUK code is not available or is blocked, please contact Elisa self-service or the nearest Elisa service point to replace the SIM card and conclude a new Mobile-ID contract. Unfortunately, it is not possible to issue new PIN codes for Mobile-ID.
